We recognise that quality care embraces not only the patient, but extends to all processes that might ensure timely and efficient patient management. Our administrative staff are easily contactable and we usually offer the patient an appointment within a week of the referral. Following review of the patient, our doctors will forward a comprehensive treatment plan and report to the GP within a few days to a week. We have high quality control measures in place to ensure that our reports are of an excellent standard. We also select our psychiatrists carefully to ensure a high level of experience, empathy and professionalism.
We specialise in Adult Psychiatry, seeing patients between the ages of 18 and 65. We would be happy to see patients with range of conditions including:
Mood disorders – Anxiety disorders – Psychotic disorders – Personality disorders
Do you offer bulk-billed assessments?
Unfortunately we are no longer offering Bulk-Billed appointments.
“Item 291s” are once-off assessments that allow the GP to continue to manage the patient with an ‘Opinion and Report’ from the psychiatrist.
- Please clearly state in your referral that this is for an item 291 consultation. Should the patient require ongoing psychiatric follow up with a psychiatrist, the assessing psychiatrist may offer ongoing care at their discretion.
- A patient may be re-referred for an item 293 review of the management plan within a 12-month period.
- You can address your referral to a particular psychiatrist or you can address the referral ‘Dear Doctor’, and our team will allocate a psychiatrist accordingly.
How do I make a referral?
Referrals can be sent via email to admin@livingwellpsychiatry.com.au. You can also fax referrals to us on (03) 9960 6111. Alternatively, please click here to access our online referral form. Please make it clear if the referral is for an item 291 or for ongoing psychiatric care.
Please note that we also have Healthlink.
How long will it take to receive a report?
We aim to get letters out to referrers within a week of the appointment, but it is often within a few days.
Do you offer emergency/urgent appointments?
We aim to provide appointments within a week; however, we are not set up to respond to crisis or acute psychiatric emergencies. If a patient requires acute care, or presents acute risks, we would advise for you to contact your local area mental health service or emergency services.
