As this is a Telehealth consultation, you will need access to a computer or a smart phone with a webcam. The consultation can take place in the comfort of your home and you can choose to have a support person with you if you wish. Once your appointment is arranged our administration staff will send you an email confirming the details of the appointment. This email will also include a link for you to access your appointment. When it’s time for your appointment you will need to click on the link provided and this will allow you to enter a virtual waiting room. When your psychiatrist is ready to see you he/she will connect with you and ‘let you in’ to the appointment. If for any reason you become disconnected during the assessment, you can contact our clinic and our administrative staff will help you re-connect. Please note, If you do not have access to a device with a webcam or you have poor Internet connection, you may wish to consider using the facilities at your GP’s clinic for this assessment.
What to expect during your assessment
- All our psychiatrists are caring, empathic and experienced so we hope you will feel at ease during the assessment.
- You will be asked lots of questions as this allows our psychiatrists to make a detailed assessment and guide a detailed management plan for you.
- To assist with your assessment, please tell your psychiatrist any information you think is useful, especially in regards to previous psychiatric treatment you may have had.
- You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
- Once the assessment is complete, a letter will be sent out to your general practitioner. We ask you to make up a follow-up appointment with your general practitioner to discuss the outcome of your assessment.
